By talking about death, do we manifest it?

I’d like to talk to you about some conversations I’ve had over the last couple of days and how people have been saying to me they absolutely get the whole concept about talking about death and the fact that we really need to do it.  BUT, there’s a resistance and a moment when you kind of see the shutters come down, a fear rising in their bellies and the next thing that they say is by speaking about it I’m gonna manifest it and I don’t want to die.

So let me just make it really daft. For those of mums out there,.  When you were deciding with your husband or partner that you wanted to have a baby, just by thinking about the fact that you wanted to have a baby, did you have one?

No. There were some things that you needed to do!

If I say I want to win the lottery, I can’t just manifest the fact that I want to win the lottery. I would have to go and buy a ticket, and I might have to buy lots of tickets!

(I have to do something)

If I want to run a marathon, just thinking about it, doesn’t mean I will be able to actually do it!

(I have to do something)

So, if you catch my drift here, the same can be said about death. Because we talk about it, it doesn’t mean to say that we’re going to die.
Through the conversations that I share, I see that we fall into one of three conversation situations of why we don’t talk about death.

I’m well, we don’t need to, and I don't want to talk about it.

I have heard people say things like.  “That’s Morbid” “I’m not talking about it, because I will manifest it.”

We can hypothesize, at this point in time we are well and there’s is no additional emotional charge of anticipated loss.

It’s a courageous conversation to have.  Overriding our fear is that we care so deeply about our loved ones that we want to bring them peace of mind.  That when we are inevitably gone, and they are feeling the rawest of emotions, they are entering the new chapter with information and guidance that will help them to our wishes.

A diagnosis has been received.

Loved ones are coming to terms with the reality that at some point a loved one will no longer be here.

It’s too emotional, it’s too uncomfortable to talk about.  In opening up the conversation it might lead to “so you think I am going to die?”

End of life is close.

It’s way too raw.  It feels insensitive and wrong. It’s too late…

By having the conversation whilst we’re well, we’re not manifesting death into our life.  We are creating the time and the space to talk about things that matter to us, without the additional emotional charge and leaving a priceless legacy for loved ones.

That’s why I help people by creating a safe space to talk about things that matter to you.

In client conversation, I see tension easing from shoulders.  A relief that when they say it out loud and clarity on their next steps.  Together we’re addressing the elephant in the room and bringing peace of mind.

So, do we manifest death by talking. about it? In my view, no, we don’t.  It’s a courageous conversation that brings peace of mind.

I hope that you are reading or listening to this from a state of well-being and invite you to think about what’s holding you back from having the conversation?

If you need a guiding hand, I’m here for you.
